Default Help with 'GIMP' and PSD files....

I have GIMP, I do not have Shotophop. I know that PSD files can be opened in GIMP (right?), but the particular files I'm trying to open come up with the error:

Error loading PSD file: Unsupported colour mode: CMYK

So... erm.... what next? Send the file to someone else to change the colour mode, then send it back? Download something for GIMP that will make it work?

LOL, no worries, just funny that you missed the one important factor in all this, lol.

Ok, nice looking plugin... but how the heck do I install this plugin? There's no instructions as far as I can see, and the downloadable zip file contains a readme file that also won't open.

    Install GIMP plugins

Plugins are bits of code that work with GIMP to add to the functionality. They may offer several exciting ways to extend the utility of the program.Plugins can be saved by unzipping the downloaded folder (if it is in a .zip format), and placing them in C:\Document and Settings\<username>\.gimp-<version>\plug-ins\. Restart GIMP, and the plugin will be activated.

Thanks, I've gotten into the readme.

    Bloody thing still not working.

I've installed the plugin, ie: I've moved the 'separate' file into the GIMP plugins folder, and if I open GIMP, I can see under the Image tab there's now a 'separate' option, but I still can't open the file in GIMP, it won't let me. And I can't use anything under the 'separate' option, because I haven't got anything opened.......

So I still can't open CMYK PSD files in GIMP, and the first thing the readme says to do is to 'Select the layer you want to separate' - HOW THE **** CAN I SELECT A LAYER IN AN IMAGE I CAN'T OPEN YOU STUPID PIECE OF ****!?!?!?!

    Honestly.

Why is this so god damn difficult.

Try this. It's a free online graphics application, no downloads - it just works in your browser. It can open .psd and .pxd but I've never tried to open one.
